Children and Young People’s Mental Health in Warrington

Good mental health is essential for children and young people’s safety, development and wellbeing. Emotional and mental health needs can affect children of all ages and may present as anxiety, low mood, behavioural changes, difficulties at school, self‑harm or withdrawal from others.

In Warrington, children and young people’s mental health is supported through a multi‑agency approach, with services working together to provide early help, targeted support and crisis care when needed.

Who Supports Children and Young People’s Mental Health?

Universal and Early Help Support

Many children can be supported through universal services and early help, including:

  • Early years settings, schools and colleges
  • School nurses and health visitors
  • GPs
  • Youth services and voluntary organisations
  • Early Help services and Family Help teams

Early support can help prevent difficulties from escalating and should be offered as soon as concerns emerge.
